Here are some reasons why you may want to consider supporting our work:
- We are a tiny organization making a big impact. Just since January of this year, we have reached close to 1,000 people through our programs, including hundreds of prison inmates and youth. And we’ve done all this on under $21,000!!! A $20,000 grant would be huge for us, and would increase our capacity to serve more communities!!! We are committed to financial transparency, and you can see how we spend our money here.
- In line with Dr. King’s vision of Beloved Community, we work with all communities. AND, we place a special emphasis on working to empower incarcerated communities and low-income youth, two communities who can’t always pay for our work. ALL of our work is offered on a Gift Economics basis, which means that often times the work we put on costs us money out of our own pockets. So we rely on other sources of funding to support our work with communities who can’t pay.
- Our work in the jails are constantly expanding. We now have a team of inmate nonviolence trainers who are doing peer education, and will soon begin offering workshops for community members. We have trained hundreds and hundreds of inmates, and have heard many touching stories of the impact we are having. In addition to our nonviolence work, we are now teaching a weekly meditation group, which has been very popular with the men. And NONE OF THIS WORK IS FUNDED!!! We do it out of love, and out of faith that if we put the work first, the universe will support us. Check out this recent write-up about our work inside.
VOTE NOW, AND VOTE EVERY DAY TO SUPPORT OUR WORK WITH ALL OF THESE COMMUNITIES!!! Thank you all for your support.
