Day 7: Day of Accountability & Atonement

As we get closer and closer to one of the most pivotal election in our lifetime, we know that many of us are feeling anxiety about the result of the election as well as what may happen afterwards. Many of us are planning to take action, especially if there is an attempt at an undemocratic power grab from the current administration.

Rather than sitting in anxiety waiting for something to happen, we are initiating action: gathering in community and deepening our relationships so that we can be ready to respond to whatever may happen.

Deepening Together is a series of gatherings for 10 consecutive days leading into election day, with each day having a different theme.

DAY SEVEN: DAY OF ACCOUNTABILITY & ATONEMENT
Saturday, October 31st @ 4PM-6PM
Frank Ogawa/Oscar Grant Plaza - 14th St. & Broadway, Oakland

We have all contributed to systems of harm. Part of the work of healing and coming back to mutual belonging is to be accountable for the harms we have contributed to and also consider what we need to ask for as repair.

As a collective, we will discover how we can move from denial towards accountability without getting stuck in a spiral of shame. In this interactive gathering we will learn a four-step framework of accountability and atonement. We will take the time for personal reflection, group shares, and conclude with a sacred symbolic ritual, a walk in the Labyrinth of Accountability.

Let us walk together and honor this initiation into personal responsibility, accountability and interbeing.

COVID Safety: We ask all participants to wear a mask at all times, and to practice safe physical distancing during the event. If you have any COVID symptoms, tested positive or have been in recent contact with someone who has, we ask that you stay home in order to protect the safety of everyone else. Masks and sanitizer will be handed out to any who needs it.

Starting on Sunday, October 25th, we will gather each day from 4PM - 6PM (unless otherwise noted) at Frank Ogawa/Oscar Grant Plaza in front of Oakland City Hall.

*Times/Themes subject to change. Please check our website for updates before attending events. Also, please feel free to bring an item to add to our collective altar, which we will be building throughout the 10-days.
